FAQ
This is an extensive list of frequently-asked questions from our customers, but not exhaustive. If you have additional questions or just don’t feel like reading all of these questions (we get it, it’s a lot!), just give us a call at (817) 888-4590 and we will gladly answer all of your questions!
Do you offer financing?
Yes — we offer low-interest, 12-month financing options for qualified homeowners.
What impacts fence pricing?
It depends on the project. Smaller projects without much complexity can be quoted over the phone with a few measurements/photos. For larger, more complex projects, we only confirm final pricing on-site. This is to ensure we provide you with an accurate and competitive quote.
do you offer free quotes without a site visit?
Many things can impact overall pricing for a fence installation, including location, terrain, linear footage, style (board-on-board, horizontal), height (6′ vs 8′), gate count, terrain, demo/haul-off, and stain/seal add-ons.
Do I need a permit for a new fence?
Usually, no, for standard residential fences under typical heights, but certain situations (corner lots, pool enclosures, retaining walls) can trigger permits. We confirm with the city and handle paperwork if needed.
How tall can my fence be?
Most DFW neighborhoods allow 6 ft in side/back yards and up to 8 ft with conditions. Corner-lot sight lines may restrict height near driveways/intersections. HOAs can be stricter.
What about HOA approval?
Many DFW communities require pre-approval by the HOA. We will provide drawings, specs, and photos upon request to speed up your HOA submission.
Cedar vs. pressure-treated pine—what’s best?
Cedar: richer look, more stable, long-lasting, naturally rot/bug resistant, higher upfront cost.
Pressure-treated pine: budget-friendly, takes stain well, doesn’t last quite as long as cedar, more prone to warping than cedar pickets. How long will my fence last?
Cedar pickets: ~15–25 years with proper staining/maintenance.
Pressure-treated pickets: ~10–15 years. Hardware and posts matter a lot.Should I choose wood or steel posts?
Steel posts are more durable, last longer, and resist rot/movement. Wood posts are more economical and can match an all-wood look. We install both.
How deep are the posts set?
Typically 30–36 inches in concrete to handle North Texas clay soil and wind. We adjust based on height, soil, and gate loads.
What styles are popular in DFW?
Board-on-board for privacy is certainly a clear winner here, cap-and-trim comes in a close second, modern horizontal and shadowbox coming in third . We’ll match your home and HOA guidelines.
When can I stain the new fence?
After wood dries—usually 2–4 weeks in warm weather. We offer pre-scheduling so staining happens at the right time.
How often should I re-stain?
Every 2–3 years for transparent/semis, 3–4 years for darker tones. North Texas weather, orientation and sprinklers can shorten those intervals.
Do you remove and haul away the old fence?
Yes. Tear-out and haul-off are available and included on replacement quotes if selected.
How long does installation take?
Most fence installations require 1–3 business days depending on footage, terrain, and gates. We give a clear schedule before we start.
What warranties do you provide?
We provide a 12-month workmanship warranty plus manufacturer warranties on materials/hardware where applicable. Your contract will specify terms.
Can you build pool-code compliant fencing?
Absolutely. We also install self-closing, self-latching gates to meet pool barrier code requirements.
Who calls 811 to mark utilities?
We do. Texas 811 locates public utilities before we dig. Please point out any private lines (sprinklers, low-voltage lighting).
What if it rains during my project?
We pause for safety and quality; concrete and staining need dry conditions. We’ll reschedule promptly and communicate daily.
Can I reuse existing posts or rails?
Only if they’re straight, solid, and set correctly. Often it’s more reliable to replace to ensure longevity and alignment.
Do I need a property survey?
If boundaries are unclear or a neighbor disputes a line, a survey protects you. We build to the survey when provided.
How do shared fences with neighbors work?
Cost-sharing is a private agreement between homeowners. We’ll split proposals for signatures and collect separately if you’d like.
What gate options do you offer?
Walk gates and driveway gates with wood or steel frames, decorative options, keypad locks, manual openers, and automatic openers.
Will crews protect my yard?
Yes—clean job sites, pet-safe protocols, landscape protection, daily cleanup, and thorough magnet sweeps for nails are of the utmost importance to us. Our motto is our customers should only be able to tell we have been in their yard by the big, new beautiful fence impressing all of their neighbors ;)
